Epiphany Theater is dedicated to the professional development of early career artists. The goal of our literary programs is to provide an artistic home for writers where they can see and hear their plays, meet early career directors, and continue the development of their craft.

Programs:

WordsUp!: A Monthly Play Reading Series

On the third Monday of each month a new work is presented to the public in a reading at our West Village rehearsal space. After the reading, audience talk-backs are offered.

Selection Criteria:

  • All topics and subjects encouraged.
  • We are particularly interested in plays that incorporate the use of theatrical conventions.
  • NY, NJ, and CT playwrights only only, due to travel constraints

Words Up Short: A One-Act Festival

An annual weekend of one-act readings.

Selection Criteria:

  • All topics and subjects encouraged.
  • We are particularly interested in plays that incorporate the use of theatrical conventions.
  • 4-6 Characters
  • NY, NJ, and CT playwrights only only, due to travel constraints

Submission Procedure:

To submit a full length play please send ONLY the following:

  • The first 25 pages of the play (if you submit more, only the first 25 pages will be read)
  • A one page synopsis (if you submit more than one page, only the first page will be read)
  • A cover letter
  • A resume

To submit a one act play, please send the complete script along with a cover letter and resume.
All submissions should be sent to: Literary Department, Epiphany Theater Company, 154 Christopher Street, Suite 2B, New York, NY 10014. Scripts will not be returned.

Scripts should be in American standard theater format. The response time is usually two to six months. For questions regarding submissions please email literarydept@epiphanytheater.org
